Thanksgiving

I woke up to the sound of  screaming children. Yep, it’s definitely Thanksgiving, I thought to myself. I went downstairs to find the house filled with family. My mom and grandma were already busy cooking the much needed food for the day ahead. The Macy’s Day Parade quietly played on the TV, like it does every year. My Thanksgiving break has just begun.

Later on the food was ready and as we ate in the big dining room that we only use for special occasions, I smiled. I loved being with my family. The Texas game roared from inside my parent’s room. Everything was just as it should be!

I Am From Poem

I am from bright lights and big stages

From music filling my life each day

I am from Wednesday nights at church, the fun that never ends

I am from iPhones and Instagram, that seems I can’t live without

From photography and editing, that I love too much

I am from stormy nights that make me sleep on the couch with my dog, scared to death.

I am from “try harder” and “GET OFF YOUR PHONE,NOW”

From the loads of decorations my stepmom is always putting up

I am from the move that changed everything, the phone calls that always lose service

These memories stashed in iPhoto albums, taking up too many “gigglebytes”

But will be forever there, due to iCloud

I am from Danielle and Kevin’s branch

The root that is stomped all over, but still supporting the tree

Base Jumping

I have a pretty big fear of heights, so when I saw this video I was amazed. I don’t think I could ever do this in a million years. These people are so brave and are huge daredevils. Congrats on this incredible jump!

Texas Football

I walked in and heard the deafening roar of a crowd.

This is the familiar Texas football game. As I got in line at my club’s buffet for lunch I smiled, football games were always a favorite of mine. I went outside to our seats just as the video of past football players came up. I suddenly felt so proud to call Austin, Texas my home. I’m not sure why the feeling just came. And to my luck I got to see Texas crush the opponent.

Austin City Limits

As the machine made the *BEEP* sound indicating my check in I smiled. I was in. Tons of people crowded the area, families, friends, and loners. There was a smell of food  and smoke, common. We set up our chairs and got ready for fun. to come on. This is going to be a good weekend, I thought to myself.

Rain

There was a crack of thunder and then the quick follow of hard rain. My heart leaped a little, as it usually does with rain. I glanced out the window only to find I could see nothing but blurred city lights. Rainy weather is perfect weather for a movie marathon. I hastily made a bowl of popcorn, the butter  staining my hand and the aroma filling the room. I grabbed my favorite blanket and movies. I curled into a little cocoon and started “The Notebook”. I popped a piece of popcorn in my mouth, *MMMMMM* I smiled. I shed a tear as the movie ended. Always saddened by the intense ending.

Poems With Prepositional Phrases

6:00 am on Monday morning

I drag myself from bed

Trying to wipe the morning fogginess away

I stumble towards the bathroom

Turn on the blinding light and get ready

I’m considering some outfits, trashing others

I have to remind myself it’s only Monday

No where near the weekend
